Oct
15 Joe Diaz caught this 30 inch Cubera Snapper and 27 inch
grouper off The Elbow at 60 ft. early during a full moon.
Joe said as soon as it got real bright the sharks and the
cudas came out and started to eat everything. He also caught
a few yellow tails. |
On Nov 4 Mike Casale caught these 23
miles out by himself. Give Mike a call if you are looking
for someone to fish with.

Dolphin and 8 Tuna on Jose's boat near the hump.

Tom Frankovich's July entry for the
dolphin tournament. A 41.5" cow (fork length) caught
on ballyhoo on July 11 in 450 ft. He was on John Peiklo's
boat and they mostly caught small dolphin plus four other
keepers and a dozen yellowtail.

On Sept 3 Mike Caselle sent this picture to let us know
that SOMEONE is still fishing.Mike and
his cousin had a "Triple Header"; Dolphin, Tuna and
Yellowtail. Caught the Tuna deep jigging on the hump.

On 6/29/11 Lee says she and Deb
"lucked" into these 5 to 8 lb. muttons. They fished less
than 1 1/2 hrs and then got chased in by storms. |
In
July Lee, Deb, Amy and Pat spent three days fishing at
Whaler's Cove Lodge in Angoon south of Juneau. It truly
was the trip of a life time. Shipping home 300 lbs of fish,
left about 50 lbs there for the locals. |
On 6/23/11 Lee caught several Yellowtail up to 22" and Mike
Casale caught a 19.75" Mutton. Nice Catch! |
On 6/29/11 Mike Casale caught this Mutton
& Grouper in 150' solo in strong current (4 lbs to get down)
on live ballyhoo. Mutton is 28" (9lb) and Red grouper
is 23".

On 6/13/11 Gary Beaucage,
Ray Robinson and two neighbors caught 8 fish trolling 12
miles off shore in ap 800' of water. From the Elbow they
headed on a south-east course just east of the first
shipping lane. What a great day of fishing! |

On 6/1/11 Mike Casale caught this 31
lb 48" (to the fork) Dolphin. He was 16 miles out in 4-7'
seas by himself. The bull came up also but he was unable to
catch both. What a beauty! I'm jealous!!!! |

On 3/1/11 George Metzler, Ed Stell and John Rowe
had a great afternoon aboard John's boat "Winter Dream" with
lots of action from tuna and some Bonita. A nice king as a
bonus fish. Wreck fishing only produced an 8' plus nurse
shark. 120-130 of water between Conch and Pickles was the
best Tuna bite. |

2/25/11 Ed & Carol Stell caught their limit of
11-13" Mangrove Snappers in Shell Creek on live shrimp below
a cork. Tom Vogal was "right on" with good trout action.
Took 2 keepers, 17" pictured and lots of shorts. Live shrimp
best but white gulp shrimp also took fish. Took a trout on
almost every cast. One pass across the mouth and landed 12
fish. |
On 2/21/11 Ed Stell while fishing with his neighbor Paul in
40' of water inside of Grecian had a great day of fishing
catching yellowtail and 5 large porgies. |
On 2/22/11 Ed fished Sprigger Bank area with two
friends and boated over 25 Spanish Mackerel (kept only 3),
more than a dozen Mangrove snappers all released, several
undersized Grouper (released), along with assorted Jacks,
Ladyfish and even a Catfish. The largest Spanish weighed
3-2 lbs and was 26" long which is a Club record |
