CLUB CALENDAR .

 

May 2 Minutes are now available in the Members Only section for those unable to attend the meeting.

  

June   Dolphin tournament June 09 sunrise to 3 PM. Boat fee $25. Two prizes; one for largest dolphin and one for highest weight of 3 fish. Spinning combo to be awarded for each winner. Mike to buy for about $110 each. Awards dinner to be held at Pilot House at 6 PM on that Sat.

July     July 09  social at Upper Crust pizza. Lee to contact.

August 05 Raft-up at Rodriguez Key from 11-3 PM.

September  09  Gulfstream daytime trip, maybe to include deep dropping. Club to supplement $20 per member.

October 03  Library meeting. Speaker hopefully to be George Clark Jr. speaking on Wahoo fishing. Lee will contact him.

November 07  meeting at library. Speaker TBA but hopefully, Shimano. Randy will contact them.

On Cinco De Mayo....Mike Casale took club members Joe Giardino and Don Schneeberger out.  It was a tough day fishing but they had constant action. (Biggest AJ 37 lbs)

 

On 4/12/12 Tom Vogel caught this 30" 15 lb Mutton on a ballyhoo plug in  117' of water.

On 4/3/12 Rod Holzworth and Ed Stell caught their limit of Yellowtail.

On 4/11/12 Rod Holzworth, Ed Stell and John Rowe on "Winter Dream" caught these Yellow Eye and Vermillion Snapper.

On 4/11/12 Ed Stell caught this 24" Yellow Eye Snapper which is a new club record.

On 4/10/12 Mike Casale took Joe Penar and his friend John fishing on the Latitude Changer.  They caught Yellowtail, Mutton, Kingfish and Dolphin.  The Dolphin were on the weed lines 15 miles out.

On 4/3/12 Bill Cook, a new member, was fishing on the Barefoot Cat with Mike Casale and Sal Livoti and caught this 42.2" Wahoo off of Molasses Reef.

On 4/1/12 Charles Whittington caught this 42" Wahoo.

On 4/7/12 Deb Calhoun caught this 9 lb Mutton aboard the Ladyfish in 85' of water using sandballs.

On 3/28/12 Kim Koch caught this 32 1/2" Mutton on squid in 115' of water.  (Entered in the March Fishing Contest.)

On 3/27/12 Joe Penar had a great catch in 340' off the Key Largo Hump.  The largest Wahoo was 14 lb and 39" (entered in the March Fishing Contest)  and the other 12 lbs.  These were caught on Blue/Silver & Yellow/Red/Green Billy Baits.

On 3/24/12 Dale Rogerson (1st year member) caught these two Mahi while fishing with Red Henson.  The largest was 34" to fork.  They were caught on ballyhoo on a homemade combo small blue and white squid and marlite kingfish 1/16 oz wt placed ahead of the hoo.   (Entered in the March Fishing Contest.)

3/17/12 Red Henson caught this 23 1/4" Mutton on ballyhoo which took 1st Place in the Winter Patch & Reef Tournament.  (Entered in the March Fishing Contest.)

3/17/12 Dale Rogerson caught this 16 3/4" Hogfish on shrimp which took 1st Place in the Winter Patch & Reef Tournament.



3/12/12 Ed Stell and Dan Folse had a great evening on Tavernier Creek catching these 14"-18" Man- groves.  They caught most using shrimp with glow slip bobbers and the bigger fish were caught on Pin Fish chunks on the bottom.

3/18/12 Tom Vogel caught this Cobia drift fishing with Pin Fish.

3/14/12 Tom Vogel caught this 19" and a 17" Trout with a cork and shrimp.   (Entered in the March Fishing Contest.)

3/17/12 Denny McClellen caught this 17 5/8" Porgy on shrimp.  This took 1st Place in the Winter Patch & Reef Tournament.

On 03/10/12 George Whitbeck caught this 25 1/2" Yellowtail.  (Entered in the March Fishing Contest.)

3/10/12 George also caught a 23 1/2" Yellowtail.

On 3/10/12 Charles Whittington caught this 28 1/2" Dolphin while trolling.

Charles also caught a 14 1/2" and 15 1/2" Tuna.   (Entered in the March Fishing Contest.)

On 3/8/12 Ed Stell caught this 18 1/2" along with a 15" and 16" Mangrove while night fishing in Tavernier Creek.  He used shrimp with a lighted slip bobber.  (Entered in the March Fishing Contest.)



On 3/10/12 John Rowe caught this 29 3/4" Dolphin on Winter Dream.   (Entered in the March Fishing Contest.)

2/28/12 Ed Stell with a 24" and Andy Jackson with a 22" Redfish caught with Capt. Mike Makowski of Blackfoot Charters.

On 3/3/12 Mike MacDonald caught two 25" and two 28" Redfish (This is a new Club Record) while fishing with Capt. Mike Makowski.  They caught a total of 22 Redfish just south of Key Largo all on artificial jigs using 10# braid.

On 2/28/12 Andy Jackson and Ed Stell fished with Capt. Mike Makowski of Blackfoot Charters.  They caught 3 Redfish with Ed's 24".   They also cauht several Sea Trout with Ed's 21 1/4" the largest (Entered in the February Fishing Contest.) Thanks go to Mike for a great day of fishing.
On 2/19/12 Mel Johnson & Red Henson caught these Kings on the Real McCoy Charter with Capt. George.  Mel & Red had a great time and caught the biggest Kings they had ever caught.  They used Speedos on kites and Pilchards on flat lines while anchored off of Alligator Reef Light in 112' of water.  Mel's biggest was 50 1/2" and Red's was 51" and weighed 38 1/2 lbs.   This is a Club Record.  (Entered in the February Fishing Contest).  They also caught a mess of Yellowtail (picture above)  that they had prepared for dinner at Snappers.  What fun!



2/17/12 Tom Prazan caught a 38" Cobia on ballyhoo drifting in 140' of water.  (This is a new Club Record.)

On the same day Tom also caught this 34" King on ballyhoo.

This is a picture of Tom Kowitski's 35 3/4" King Mackerel caught off the Duane on a live Bonito.

On 2/19/12 Tom Prazan caught this 25" yellowtail sandballing in 120' of water.


On 2/17/12 Charles Whittington caught this 30" Wahoo on the way back from the Hump and the 19.5" Tuna on the way to the Hump.  (Entered in the February Fishing Contest)


On 2/8/12 Ed Stell and Rod Holzworth had a great day fishing at Sprigger Bank.  They caught Spanish Mackerel, Blue Fish & Mangroves.

On 2/17/12 Mel & Denny & Red were in 120' of water between Red Nun Buoy and the Elbow and caught 12 King Mackerel. Best bites were on #8 planer with bare medium ballyhoo.

2/17/12 Denny McClelland's 31" King.  What a great catch!

On 2/17/12 Tom & Sue Vogel caught these Yellowtail that ranged from 14" to 21".  What fun!

Tom Prazan with a 22 1/2" Yellowtail caught using sandballs in 114' of water.

2/14/12 Tom Prazan with a 39 1/4" 14 lb. Dolphin caught while drifting in  150' of water on ballyhoo.  (Entered in the February Fishing Contest)

2/14/12 Kim Koch with a 33" King that was caught using live ballyhoo while drifting in 150' of water.   (Entered in the February Fishing Contest)

2/10/12 Tom Vogel with a 17" Trout.  (Entered in the February Fishing Contest)

2/11/12 Joe Giordino caught this 24" Yellowtail Snapper on Mike Casale's boat the morning before the cold front came through.  (Entered in the February Fishing Contest)

2/8/12 Tom Vogel caught this 19" Mangrove in 107' of water.  (Entered in the February Fishing Contest)

2/8/12 Tom & Sue Vogel also caught 6 other mangroves from 16" to 14" and finished out their limit with Yellowtail.  Great day of fishing!

2/7/12 Dan Folse had a good day on patches off Mosquito.  He was practicing for the Tournament and caught all species except the Mangrove.

2/7/12 Ed Stell was fishing with Dan Folse near Mosquito Banks and caught this 17" Yellowtail on shrimp.  (Entered in the February Fishing Contest)

1/31/12  Ed Stell recommends that you "re-cycle your fish carcasses".  His first time setting stone crab traps he got 6 claws (3 huge ones).  He also got almost a gallon of shrimp from Tavernier Creek last night with Tom Frankovich.


On 2/2/12 Joe Giardino and Sal Livoti each caught muttons on Mike Casale's boat just off French Reef. Sal's is 1/4 inch bigger at 25.75 inches. (Sal's was entered in the February Fishing Contest)

2012 Swamp Guides Ball Grand Champions are Rich Campiola, Don Ponn, and there Captain/Guide Mike Makowski of Blackfoot Charters.  Congratulations Mike!

On 1/15/12 Mike MacDonald caught this 25 1/2" Mutton on live shrimp with a circle hook in 10' of water at Dixie Shoals. (Entered in January Fishing Contest.)

On 1/28/12 Lee Lavery caught this 24 1/2" 7 lb Mutton in  81' of water free lining kingfish belly. (Entered in January Fishing Contest.)


On 1/27/12 Ed Stell caught this 19" Sea Trout with live shrimp with a popping cork.  (Entered in January Fishing Contest.)

On January 3 Deb Calhoun caught a 27" Dolphin in 325' of water off Key Largo on a naked ballyhoo.  (Entered in January Fishing Contest)

1/22/12 Capt. Andy Jackson caught a 20" Black Fin Tuna.  (Entered in January Fishing Contest)

On 1/19/12 Kim Koch caught this 13 1/2" Hogfish on a shrimp in 15' of water north of Molasses Reef.

Kim also caught this 18 1/2" Porgy on shrimp.  (This is a Club Record).

On January 17 Larry Baldwin caught this 16 1/4" Mangrove near French Reef.  (Entered in the January Fishing Contest.)

On January 17 Larry also caught this 21 1/2" 6 lb 13 oz Trigger Fish. This is a Personal and Club Record for Larry.  Congratulations!

On January 6 Lee Lavery caught this 20#,  42" Wahoo in  216' of water

On January 12 Karen Baldwin caught this 24" 5 lb 15 oz Mutton near French Reef.  (Entered in the January Fishing Contest)

These are some of the fish that Charles and Lourdes Whittington caught Jan 2 on a short fishing trip. The biggest Hogfish was 14.5" and the biggest Porgy was 18".  They caught it close to Marker 39.

   

On Jan 6 Tom Prazan caught this 47" King Mackerel on a butterfly jig.  Tom was in 300' of  water fishing in the Gulf Stream about 10 miles off shore.  (Entered in the January Fishing Contest)


On Nov 28th, Thierry Sleszynski caught this dolphin while Yellowtailing on Mike Casale's boat !!!!   

On Dec 29 Kim Kotch had a fun trip with these tuna and Yellowtail with Mike Casale's nephew. 


On Dec 7 Pat Summers caught this African Pompano at the 300' wreck off Molasses on Mike Casale's boat.

On Jan 02 Joe Giardino caught this 48" Wahoo on a mono tuna daisey chain on Mike Casale's Latitude Changer. (Entered in January Fishing Contest)

On Jan 2 Joe Giardino caught a personal best 24.75" Yellowtail.   (Entered in January Fishing Contest)

Sal Livoti was fishing with his friend Kevin who comes from England and stays at his house for a month every year.  He is on the Wales Fishing Team.

The Red Grouper was caught in 200' off the Duane on Dec 24, 25" 9lbs, same day for the Wahoo in 250' 46" 28lbs, the dolphin was caught on Jan 1 in 300' off of Molasses, 56" 35 lbs.
